FFmpeg is a complete, cross-platform solution to record, convert and stream audio and video. It includes libavcodec - the leading audio/video codec library. FFmpeg can be hooked up with a number of external libraries to add support for more formats. None of them are used by default, their use has to be explicitly requested by passing the appropriate flags to `./configure'. Before using recordMyDesktop, it is suggested that you visit the Documentation section of this site and in particular, read the User Guide, in order to get a better understanding of how to use the program.
