Faculty Position, Scientific Computing, Univof Waterloo, Canada

The Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Waterloo
invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the
field of scientific computing. Candidates should show evidence of
outstanding potential in research and should have a strong
mathematical background. Involvement in an area of application that
overlaps with current activity in the department will be an
advantage. We are looking for applicants with an enthusiasm for
teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level, and for the
supervision of graduate students.

The Department of Applied Mathematics has 22 regular faculty and
two lecturers. Research interests include scientific computing,
control theory, differential equations and dynamical systems, fluid
dynamics, mathematical biology and medicine, and mathematical
physics. The department has a substantial graduate program with
over 70 graduate students pursuing Masters or PhD degrees, and
strong undergraduate programs in applied mathematics and
mathematical physics. More information about the department can be

Candidates interested in this position should have a PhD or
equivalent in Applied Mathematics, or related field. Appointment at
the Assistant Professor level is preferred, but extraordinarily
strong candidates will be considered for a more senior position.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and research record.
This appointment is expected to commence during the 2014 calendar
year.
