ASU Faculty positions

The Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU)
seek applicants for tenure-track/tenured faculty positions in Big
Data. Areas of interest include: management, analytics, mining, or
visualization of massive data sets. Candidates with application
interest in one or more of our key research thrust areas of Health,
Energy, Sustainability, Security or Education are particularly
encouraged to apply. The originality and promise of each candidate’s
work are higher priorities than the specific area of research.

The data management and analytics group in the School of Computing,
Informatics, and Decision Systems Engineering includes faculty working
on a variety of topics including data mining and machine learning,
statistical analysis, multimedia, visualization, data storage and
query processing. Extensive collaborations exist across the
university, including BioDesign Institute, Global Institute of
Sustainability, and Institute of Humanities Research. The current
openings are intended to broaden this expertise and expand
collaborations.

The successful candidate will hold an earned Ph.D. or equivalent in
computer science, engineering, or related field. Required
qualifications also include demonstrated evidence of excellence in
research and teaching as appropriate to the candidate’s rank. Desired
qualifications include a record of acquiring external funding and
publication in top-tier journals/conferences with real-world impact
and a commitment to transdisciplinary teaming.

Faculty members are expected to develop an internationally recognized
and externally funded research program, develop and teach graduate and
undergraduate courses, advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate
students, and undertake service activities.

Appointments will be at the assistant, associate or full professor
rank commensurate with the candidate’s experience and accomplishments,
starting August 2014. Although appointments may be in any of Fulton
Engineering’s five schools, the Computer Science and Industrial
Engineering programs are currently the most involved in big data.

Review of applications will begin November 1, 2013; if not filled,
reviews will occur on the 1st and 15th of every month thereafter until
the search is closed. To apply, please submit as a single PDF file a
current CV, statements describing research and teaching interests and
contact information for three references to bigdata.faculty@asu.edu.
