  • Hands-on experience in 3D Medical Image Analysis and experience building software solutions implementing image analysis algorithms.
  • Solid publication record in peer-reviewed journals and conferences in computer vision, image processing, medical imaging and relevant application fields.
  • Strong understanding of the image formation chain for medical and biomedical imaging devices such as CT, MR, Ultrasound, and microscopy platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to write C++ code both for quick demonstration of ideas and robust, efficient, scaled-up software systems.
  • Candidate must be willing to travel a minimum of 2 weeks per year.

Sage Bionetworks is a world-leading nonprofit biomedical research organization dedicated to: (1) developing predictive models of disease-related phenotypes through integrative analysis of large- scale genomic data sets; (2) and to connect scientists using our open source compute platform and database to enable active sharing of research to more effectively harness genome-scale data by enabling disease models to be evolved by contributor scientists.

We are seeking a candidate for our data science group to lead the interaction with several external research consortia and to develop bioinformatics processing pipelines in collaboration with scientists and external bioinformaticians. These automated data processing and QC pipelines will be designed to process data derived from most commonly used genomics technologies – but especially RNA-seq and whole genome sequencing. All data is processed and shared through Synapse (www.synapse.org), our software platform, allowing data to be queried, versioned, access controlled, and linked downstream analytical pipelines through provenance records. The effort to support research consortia is central to our efforts to enable collaborative development of disease models by investigators worldwide.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Work within a team of biologists, statisticians and software engineers to compile and format large, high-dimensional data sets for downstream analysis. Detect, model and normalize batch and experimental artifacts in data.

• Support scientists involved in multiple projects both within Sage Bionetworks and external collaborators in developing data processing pipelines, and coordinate these efforts to develop reusable pipelines that synergize into a coherent overall effort.

• Work closely with software development team and communicate requirements and features of Synapse.

• Stay abreast of new biological experimental protocols as experimental technology changes.

• Automate the execution and implementation of new analysis methods using scripting and statistical programming.

• Assist in the evaluation and implementation of data and phenotype curation tools.

Qualifications:

• Candidate will either (1) hold a Masters or Bachelors degree, with 4+ years of significant relevant work experience (2) hold a Ph.D. in computer science, bioinformatics, or related quantitative discipline plus at least 2 years of work experience;

• Experience working with high dimensional genomic data, such as sequencing data, gene expression, genotype, CNV, sequence and/or data from other high throughput biological technologies. Experience working with clinical data is desired. Will have basic expertise in the informatics methods used to analyze these types of data.

• Software development experience, including strong programming skills in a high level language especially Python and/or R. Experience with Linux shell scripting required.

Lead Developer - SW engineer

nView medical - Greater Salt Lake City Area

nView medical is developing the next generation medical imaging technology to enable minimally invasive surgical procedures. Its novel medical imaging concept has recently been awarded a grant by the National Science Foundation. nView is an early stage start-up that provides product development and commercialization  services in the fields of medical imaging, surgical navigation and oncology treatments.

IBM Research Collaboratory in Singapore welcomes qualified post-doctoral
candidates to apply for a fellowship starting as early as January 2014. 

The successful candidate will be working on the 'next generation' of 
real-time analytics leveraging massive multimedia and unstructured datasets (such as cognitive computing).

We welcome applications from candidates with background experience in optimal control, inverse problems, data assimilation, or machine learning, who feel that their experience will assist in the development of online operational analytics across multiple application areas from transportation to environmental sensing.

The position involves working with an international research team developing models 
and algorithms for real-time analytics. The position involves both innovative research and
writing articles as well as significantly contributing to real-world client
projects. There is a component of the position that involves programming,
and experience in Java is preferred. However, the position is not primarily a programming position.

Salary and benefits are very competitive. The actual salary is determined by
the IBM Research Human Resources department and cannot be provided ahead of
an offer being made to the candidate. But, it can be expected that the
salary and benefits will be very attractive, as compared to academic
positions and to other positions in industry.

The position is for one year and can be renewed up to two more years based
on mutual agreement. As such, this is a duration-limited position. Of the
postdoctoral researchers at IBM Research, some are converted to permanent,
non-duration-limited, positions during the course of their postdoctoral
fellowship. However, no guarantee of such conversion can be made ahead of
time.

The Internet Graphics group at Microsoft Research Asia (Beijing) is seeking applicants for associate researchers, researchers, and interns. The Internet Graphics group just initiated research in the general area of information visualization, intelligent user interaction, and visual analytics. In particular, we are interested in designing and developing novel visual metaphors and interactive visualization algorithms and technologies that help average users or business users easily consume huge amounts of complex data/information to discover patterns and derive insights. Our group is multi-disciplinary, with members from fields ranging from information visualization, intelligent user interaction, and computer graphics. We also closely collaborated with the Machine Learning and Data Mining groups at MSRA. The complimentary nature of our skills creates an exciting environment for research and exploration.

We are currently seeking qualified researchers and interns whose research interests overlap with our efforts in the following areas:

Interactive, visual text analytics: research and develop interactive visual metaphors and tools to transform text collections into a visual representation that helps reveal thematic patterns and locate interesting information: 1) design novel visual metaphors and interaction techniques to convey complex text analytic results and make them consumable by average users or business users; 2) interaction techniques that help users examine text from multiple perspectives to help compensate the deficiencies of text analysis technologies; 3) seamlessly marry interactive visualization with text analytics techniques to drive a full visual text analysis life cycle and tailor the analysis process to a person’s tasks and situations. 

Interactive, visual social media analysis: research and develop interactive visual metaphors and tools to aid in fast social media exploration and understanding: 1) design and develop interactive visualization metaphors and interaction techniques to visually illustrate, summarize, and explain large information diffusion patterns and various dynamic network updates; 2) design and develop highly interactive, novel graph-based metaphors and algorithms for visualizing time-sensitive social communities and their evolutions; and 3) tightly integrate the state-of-the-art social media analysis technologies with interactive visualization to support a full life-cycle of interactive social media analysis.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with research interests and a proven research track record in information visualization or scientific visualization. Candidates for this position must have:

Desired Experience
